Primo Jet Alternatives
How do other schemes compare to Primo Jet? What other options exist? Take a look at our handy guide to find out more.
1
AOC One-Off Charter
Charter involves you purchasing hours from an Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) holder. We partner with Ravenair to provide this service.
There is no VAT charged on AOC flights, but prices are often higher than alternative options. Chartering gives you a "one stop shop" for your trips, so it is ideal for single trips, and less so for regular travellers.
It also limits the choice of destination airports, as more safety factors must be applied to flights.
2
Fractional Ownership
Fractional ownership involves buying a share in an aircraft (normally 1/8th or 1/16th). This involves using a large amount of capital, in the region of £450,000! The share is normally sold after 5 years, where you are returned the "fair market value" (initial purchase minus depreciation).
Hours are then purchased in blocks at the start of the year. Monthly fees are high, but "positioning" is often included.
These schemes are better than one-off charters for regular flyers, however often work out more expensive than membership schemes, and require capital to be used.
3
Primo Jet Membership
The Primo Jet membership scheme gives the benefits of fractional ownership (cheaper prices and more flexibility), but with the added benefit of not having to buy a share.
Flights can either be operated under Part-NCO (see here for detail), or under the additional AOC protection of Part-CAT, for a small extra fee per hour.
